> How to remove McAfee Security Center
Posted by 777mscdw - 07-3-10 17:07 - 2 comments
I wasn't sure in which forum I should post this, but here goes...

I'm trying to remove McAfee Security Center. When I go to control panel-->add/remove programs, and click on remove for this program, I get this screen that says select the programs you want to remove, and then click remove. The only program listed is Security Center, and the checkbox next to it is grayed out/not enabled. Lower on the screen it says "Legacy programs must be removed first." There are 2 buttons - Remove & Cancel - but the Remove button is not enabled, so all I can do is click on Cancel.

Short of reformatting the hard drive, any suggestions for getting rid of this program? It routinely slows down my computer, and I've got AVG free installed, so I'd really like to get rid of McAfee.

Any help is appreciated.
